How to authorize a card or take security deposit

Credit or debit cards can be authorized when guests are reserving a room, or during check in or checkout. To authorize or capture a card for any guest, follow the below mentioned steps.

 

Step 1: Login to your dashboard with your existing credentials. Select on the reservation calendar situated on the top left side of the page.

 

 

 

You will be redirected to the page as given below.

 

 

Step 2: Click on the booking for which you want to send the email. For example, here I am selecting the booking for Charlie. 

 

 

Once you click on it, a side bar will appear with all the booking information, as shown below.

 

Step 3: Click on “view folio” from this side bar. 

 

 

You will be redirected to the page from where you will be able to add services. 

 

Step 4: Click on “settle dues” option situated on bottom of the folio summary box. 

 

 

Once you click that, a list of payment options will appear in form of a list. Refer to the screenshot below.

 

 

Step 5: Select the option “perform EMV transaction” from the list.


Once you click on this, a pop up dialog box will appear as shown in the image below.

 

 

Enter the amount and click on “Authorize Hold”.  Your payment will be automatically authorized. 


Note: These option is mainly for verifying the card details provided by the guest. Also to perform an authorization hold for security deposit. If you wish you can also directly charge from the card. In that case, click on "charge" option, instead of "authorize hold". The payment will be automatically captured. You can choose to save card details or not. Uncheck the "save card for later use" box if you don't want to save the card. 

 

You can also authorize the card, from the saved card details. 

 

Go to settle dues, and from the dropdown, click on the card that is saved for the guest. Once you click on this, a dialog box will appear as shown below.

 

 

Here you can enter the amount balance and you can click on “Authorize Hold” You can also directly charge from the card, if you wish to. In that case, select on “Charge” option.
